Pine Bluff Woman Fatally Shot; Man Arrested in Ongoing Investigation

A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed Monday afternoon in Pine Bluff, and a 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the case, according to police.

Officers with the Pine Bluff Police Department were called just after 2 p.m. Jan. 26 to a reported shooting in the 2400 block of West 24th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Jurnea Stanley, 23, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper body.

Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said 25-year-old Michael Johnson was also at the residence when officers arrived. He was taken to the detective office for questioning and later transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of second-degree murder.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and no additional details have been released.
