The first winter storm of 2026 hit the Deltaplex area Friday night, leaving roads, yards, and homes covered in snow and ice as residents woke up Saturday morning.
Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. spoke with Deltaplex News on Saturday morning to share what he and his deputies were seeing on county roads during their patrols.
Woods added that this is the worst storm he has seen in a while in terms of how quickly temperatures dropped, and he advised citizens to check on their neighbors, especially the elderly.
