Chad Kelley Highlights Experience and Community Service in Jefferson County Coroner Reelection Bid

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley is seeking reelection after more than 25 years of service to Jefferson County.

Kelley began his career in the Coroner’s Office as a deputy coroner under former Jefferson County Coroner Holly Sperry. Sperry served from 1999-2008 following the retirement of Havis Hester. He was later elected as the county’s full-time coroner.

Kelley spoke with Deltaplex News about his decision to run for reelection.

He discussed the certifications he has earned during his tenure as coroner.

Kelley also highlighted additional accomplishments, noting that he has consistently stayed within his budget each year during his tenure as coroner.

He added that his office is heavily involved within the community.

There has been ongoing discussion in the Jefferson County community regarding indigent burials and how funds are distributed for those services. Kelley explained who is responsible for setting the amount allocated for each burial and what those funds are intended to cover.
