Little Rock Woman Arrested for Capital Murder After Infant Death Ruled Homicide

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested following the death of an infant in Little Rock, according to police.

Little Rock Police Department officers were called to a residence in the 3300 block of Clifton Drive at approximately 11:14 a.m. on Dec. 30 in reference to a medical emergency involving an infant.

When officers arrived, they found the infant unresponsive. Officers administered CPR while the child was transported to a local hospital, but the infant later died despite life-saving efforts.

Detectives with the Little Rock Police Department’s Major Crimes Division responded to the scene and began an investigation. According to authorities, the injuries sustained by the infant were determined to be consistent with homicide, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Following the investigation and an interview with authorities, 23-year-old Erin Sauls was arrested and charged with capital murder.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details have not been released at this time.
