Randy Compton Named Pine Bluff Fire Chief After Decades of Service

Mayor Vivian Flowers has announced the appointment of Randy Compton as the next fire chief of the Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services Department.

Compton, who has been serving as interim fire chief, will officially assume the role on Jan. 1, 2026. He brings more than three decades of service to the City of Pine Bluff and extensive leadership experience within the department.

During his career, Compton has served in a variety of roles, including firefighter, engineer, assistant training officer, assistant fire marshal and interim fire chief. He also holds national certifications in firefighting as well as fire and explosion investigation.

City officials said Compton has consistently emphasized fire prevention, community engagement and interagency cooperation. Throughout his tenure, he has worked closely with federal, state and local public safety agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Arkansas State Police.

Mayor Flowers praised Compton’s leadership and commitment to public safety.

“Chief Compton’s depth of experience, steady leadership and lifelong dedication to the safety of our residents make him the right choice to lead the Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services Department,” Flowers said in a statement. “I am confident that under his leadership, the department will continue to strengthen its service to our community and uphold the highest standards of public safety.”

A formal swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, at the Prince Hall Grand Lodge, located at2906 E. Harding Ave.
