The winning 1.8 billion Powerball ticket was sold in Cabot, AR.
While it was quickly known that the single winning ticket for the second largest Powerball jackpot was sold in Arkansas, the area of Arkansas where the ticket was sold was largely unknown to the general public. Late on December 25th, it was announced the winning ticket was sold in Cabot. This does not mean the winner lives in Cabot, but only that the ticket was purchased there.
Unless the winner reveals themselves beforehand, the earliest date they will be known is Monday, December 29th, and the latest is 180 days from the December 24th drawing. For such a large sum, the winner must go to the Arkansas Lottery Claims center to register their win. The center is closed until Monday. Even then, the winner may remain anonymous for up to three years according to Arkansas law, but I am certain there will be signs.
Until the winner is known, we at Deltaplex News recommend everyone be kind to their friends and loved ones, just in case.
