Shawn Davis Named Pine Bluff Chief of Police by Mayor Vivian Flowers

The City of Pine Bluff has announced the appointment of Captain Shawn Davis as the next chief of the Pine Bluff Police Department following a nationwide search.

According to city officials, Davis will assume the role effective Jan. 1, 2026. He brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience within the department, having begun his career in Pine Bluff in 2002.

Throughout his tenure, Davis has served in a wide range of operational and leadership roles, including assignments in Patrol, the Detective Division, Vice and Narcotics, Quality of Life enforcement, and most recently as commander of the Special Operations and Traffic Division. City officials said his career has been marked by a focus on proactive policing, conflict resolution, modern law enforcement strategies, and high ethical standards.

Mayor Vivian Flowers praised the appointment, citing Davis’ long-standing service and leadership.

“Captain Davis has served the City of Pine Bluff with dedication and distinction for over 20 years,” Flowers said in a statement. “We are confident that his experience, leadership, and progressive vision will guide our police department into the future, building on past accomplishments, strengthening community trust, and ensuring accountability.”

A formal swearing-in ceremony for Davis is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, at the Detective Kevin Collins Center, located at 200 East 8th Avenue in Pine Bluff.
