Wilmar Man Held on $100,000 Bond After First Degree Murder Charge in Drew County Shooting

UPDATE: A first judicial appearance was held Monday for William Tadel, who appeared before Judge Crews Puryear on Dec. 22, 2025.

During the hearing, Tadel was issued a $100,000 commercial bond and ordered to comply with several additional conditions of release. Court officials did not immediately release details about those conditions.

No future court date has been scheduled, and the case remains under investigation, according to court records.

A 21-year-old Wilmar man has been charged with first-degree murder following a shooting early Sunday morning in Drew County that left another man dead, according to the Drew County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Tim Nichols said deputies and medical personnel were dispatched around 12:13 a.m. on Dec. 21, 2025, to a residence on Sullivan Road in the Rock Springs community after receiving reports of a person being shot.

During the investigation, authorities identified the alleged shooter as William Drew Tadel, 21, of Wilmar. Tadel was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Drew County Detention Facility, officials said.

Law enforcement later learned that the victim, Noah Long, 21, of Monticello, died as a result of his injuries.

Tadel is currently being charged with first-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office. The investigation remains ongoing.
