Police in England are investigating an incident involving individuals firing paintball guns at a local Sonic Drive-In, authorities said Friday.
According to a news release from the England Police Department, officers received reports of people shooting paintball guns at the Sonic restaurant. While paintball guns are sometimes viewed as toys, police said their use in this manner is dangerous and disruptive and will not be tolerated.
Authorities said the actions placed Sonic employees, customers and passing motorists at risk and could have resulted in property damage or personal injury. Investigators are actively reviewing information and following leads in an effort to identify those responsible.
Police said that if the suspects are identified, they will be arrested and any vehicle involved in the incident will be towed. If the offenders are juveniles, the department’s juvenile officer will be notified, and both the juveniles and their parents or guardians could be cited in accordance with Arkansas law.
“This behavior is not a prank,” England Police Chief Richard Friend said in a statement. “It is reckless, dangerous, and will be handled seriously. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children before someone gets hurt or faces criminal charges.”
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the England Police Department.
