Desha County Sheriff Mitch Grant has announced his bid for reelection following what he describes as a successful first term in office, after previously serving as a trooper with the Arkansas State Police.
Grant spoke with Deltaplex News about his decision to seek another term and highlighted several accomplishments from his first term as sheriff.
He also discussed the reduction in crime Desha County has seen during his first term, along with several other accomplishments by the sheriff’s office.
Grant also shared what made him decide to run for reelection.

Grant said that during his first campaign he learned residents wanted greater transparency from the Desha County Sheriff’s Office and more insight into what was happening across the county. In response, the department launched a social media effort to keep the public informed about crime-related news and developments, which he said has also encouraged citizens to assist in solving cases.
