Suspect Identified in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Pine Bluff

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting late Friday night as 23-year-old Jeremy Lawrence, Jr., according to Coroner Chad Kelley.

Lawrence was fatally wounded after allegedly opening fire on Pine Bluff Police officers, who returned fire during the incident. He was transported to Jefferson Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting occurred after officers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle in the 1800 block of West 27th Avenue. Three suspects reportedly fled from the vehicle, and Lawrence began shooting at officers as he ran, prompting them to return fire in the 1800 Block of West 28th Avenue.

Three Pine Bluff Police officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. Their names have not yet been released.
