Lifelong Zebra, longtime educator, and respected community leader Arnold Robertson has officially announced his candidacy for the Pine Bluff School District Board of Directors, Zone 2.
With nearly 30 years of service in education, Robertson enters the race with a record of proven leadership and a deep personal commitment to the students, families, and future of Pine Bluff.
Robertson’s dedication to education is rooted in his upbringing and shaped by the powerful influence of his mother, the late Deloris Blunt Robertson-Lovell, who devoted more than 47 years to teaching, mentoring, and uplifting students across the Pine Bluff School District. She often reminded others that “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet,” a philosophy that continues to guide Robertson’s work.
A proud member of the Pine Bluff High School Class of 1987, Robertson continued his academic and professional development with degrees in:
-
B.S. in Industrial Technology (1992)
-
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership (2002)
-
Specialist Degree in District Level Leadership (2018)
These accomplishments reflect not only his passion for lifelong learning but also his comprehensive understanding of how strong, well-supported school systems operate. His experience as an administrator in one of the district’s successful schools has given him firsthand insight into what challenges must be addressed and what solutions are needed to create stronger outcomes for students and educators.
As a parent, Robertson has experienced the Pine Bluff School District from another important angle—five of his children graduated from PBSD, giving him a direct, personal perspective on the strengths, needs, and opportunities within today’s classrooms.
A Vision for Integrity, Accountability, and Student Success
Robertson is seeking the Zone 2 seat to help restore transparency, stability, and professionalism to the Pine Bluff School District Board. Guided by the heart of an educator and the experience of an administrator, he emphasizes that every decision must begin with one core question:
“Is this what’s best for students?”
His priorities for the district include:
-
Empowering teachers with the resources, training, and respect needed to perform at a high level.
-
Raising academic expectations while ensuring students have real supports to achieve them.
-
Ensuring financial responsibility so taxpayer dollars are used effectively and transparently.
-
Strengthening communication with families and community stakeholders.
-
Leading with integrity, fairness, and professionalism to restore trust in district governance.
A Commitment to Pine Bluff’s Future
From classrooms to administrative offices, from student achievements to community partnerships, Robertson’s life has been woven into the fabric of Pine Bluff schools. He understands both the challenges and the extraordinary potential within the district.
“My goal is simple,” Robertson said. “To help build a district where students feel supported, educators feel valued, and families feel confident about the future of our schools.”
With decades of educational experience, a history of service, and an unwavering love for Pine Bluff, Arnold Robertson is ready to lead, ready to serve, and ready to put students first.
