Cleveland County Voters Approve Property Tax Increase for New Rison Gymnasium

The Cleveland County School District’s proposal for a 6-mill property tax increase to fund construction of a new gymnasium at the Rison campus has passed, with 867 votes in favor and 404 against.

The final results were announced to a crowd of approximately 40–50 people gathered outside the Cleveland County Courthouse on Tuesday night around 8 p.m.

Cleveland County School District Superintendent Davy King spoke with Deltaplex News shortly after the votes were tallied.

With the millage passing, the district will also receive additional construction funds from the State of Arkansas. King discussed that as well.

King said the district will now begin working to set a construction date for the new gymnasium.
