England High School Assistant Principal Arrested on Felony Rape and Sexual Assault Charges

An assistant principal at England High School has been arrested and is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student, according to the England Police Department.

Authorities said Trent Morgan was taken into custody after a student reported inappropriate communication and conduct to police on Nov. 17. The department immediately launched an investigation, which officials said led to Morgan’s arrest.

Morgan is facing felony charges of rape, second-degree sexual assault, and sexual grooming of a child. He was arrested by Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley and is currently being held at the Lonoke County Detention Facility, where he awaits his first court appearance.

According to the England School District’s website, a Trent Morgan is listed as the district’s principal of student services, ALE director, and a coach at England High School.

England Police Chief Richard Friend praised the agencies that assisted in the investigation.

“When allegations of this nature are reported, we act immediately and thoroughly to protect the victim, preserve evidence, and pursue justice,” Friend said. “I want to thank the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division, and the Jacksonville Children’s Protection Center for their vital assistance.”

No additional details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
