Updated Political Filings for Drew County Races

Political hopefuls across Drew County have officially begun filing paperwork for the upcoming 2025 election cycle, with candidates declaring for a range of county, city, and township offices.

The filing period has already produced a number of contested races, including for county judge, sheriff, and several positions on the Drew County Quorum Court.

Three candidates have entered the race for Drew County Judge. Republicans Jessie Griffin and Michael Owens have filed, along with Independent candidate Robert Akin.

For County Clerk, Republican Stephanie Chisom is seeking election, while Independent Beverly Burks has filed for Circuit Clerk.

Republican Charles Searcy is running for County Treasurer, and Republican Cheri Adcock has filed for County Assessor.

Two candidates have filed for Drew County Sheriff, both running as Independents — Larry Smith and Jerome Perez.

The race for County Coroner will feature Republican Charles Dearman, while Republican Doug Harton is seeking the position of County Surveyor.

Several seats on the Drew County Quorum Court will also be contested. Those filing include:

  • Roger Harris (Republican, District 7)

  • Craig Kaminicki (Republican, District 7)

In the Wilmar City Council races, three Democrats have filed: Deborah West (Ward 1, Position 2), Marvin Hopson Sr. (Ward 2, Position 2), and Charles Saffold (Ward 1, Position 2).

Five candidates have filed for constable positions across Drew County townships:

  • John Beatty (Republican, Collins Township)

  • Steven Sturgis (Republican, Saline Township)

  • Jerald Clarke (Republican, Springhill Township)

  • Scott Chapman (Republican, Veasey Township)

Two candidates have filed for positions on the Monticello School District Board: Keith Wells Sr. (Independent, Position 2) and LeAnne Burch (Independent, Position 4).
