The government shutdown, which has extended for more than a month may soon be over, according to Fourth District Congressman Bruce Westerman.
Appearing on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show Thursday, Westerman was asked if there was any movement in the U.S. Senate to try and get the government reopened.
Morning Show host Greg Horne asked Westerman if he was optimistic that the Senate would pass something.
He said Republicans need 5 Democratic votes to pass legislation and get the government back working.
Westerman went on to say that with the shutdown, legislators are getting behind because there have been no congressional hearings but that he has been going back and forth to Washington and working with staff so that when the shutdown is over, the House can get some bills passed and sent to the Senate.
