Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl has officially announced his bid for re-election, seeking a second term as the county’s top law enforcement officer.
In a statement released Monday, Knoedl said his decision came after “careful consideration and prayer,” adding that while progress has been made over his first three years in office, there is “still work to be done.”
“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support we received during the first three years,” Knoedl said. “We have made significant progress, but there is still work to be done. I want to give you my commitment to keeping our schools and communities safe.”
Knoedl highlighted his administration’s focus on combating drug-related crime throughout Dallas County, noting that substance abuse remains a root cause of many other offenses.
“I am proud of the work dedicated to combating our drug issues around the county,” he said. “Many of the other crimes committed can be directly attributed to drugs, whether it be domestic violence, theft, or violent crimes.”
Since taking office, Knoedl has emphasized community engagement, school safety, and transparency, maintaining what he calls an “open-door policy” for residents.
“I maintain an open-door policy when it comes to serving the public,” he said. “I will always remain transparent and committed to keeping you informed.”
Knoedl closed his announcement by reaffirming his commitment to the people of Dallas County.
“I look forward to serving you, the citizens of Dallas County, again,” he said.
