The City of Pine Bluff held a re-grand opening of the Opportunity House on Thursday, marking an important milestone as the facility expands from a daytime service center to a full 24/7 operation.

The expansion highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to providing critical resources, shelter, and support to residents in need. The Opportunity House has long served as a safe space for individuals experiencing homelessness or hardship, and the move to round-the-clock operations will allow it to offer continuous access to meals, rest, and wraparound services aimed at helping residents rebuild their lives.

Mayor Vivian Flowers spoke with Deltaplex News about the growing need to address homelessness in Pine Bluff, emphasizing that the upgraded facility represents both compassion and progress for the community.

Flowers said she appreciates the Pine Bluff City Council for supporting the endeavor, noting that the city has committed to providing up to $1 million annually through the end of 2027.

Flowers said the timing was ideal to reopen the Opportunity House as a 24/7 resource, with cold weather approaching and more citizens in need of shelter.
