Drew County Sheriff Tim Nichols has officially announced his bid for re-election, highlighting improvements made during his first term and pledging to continue building on those efforts if granted another.

Nichols, who has served as sheriff since 2023, said it has been an honor to work for the people of Drew County and emphasized his department’s focus on proactive patrol measures, fiscal responsibility, and community involvement.

“Since being elected as Sheriff, we have made some great improvements not only within the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Facility, but also in our proactive patrol measures,” Nichols said. “Deputies are out patrolling areas many said were neglected for years, and we’ve seen a decrease in criminal activity throughout the county.”

Nichols also pointed to cost-saving measures within the department. According to him, the sheriff’s office has been able to decrease the budget significantly while still maintaining high standards of law enforcement and safety.

Another priority for Nichols has been strengthening partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, which he said have proven to be valuable assets in serving Drew County residents.

Beyond law enforcement, Nichols has emphasized community involvement, particularly with schools, youth programs, and special events like the Special Olympics. “I do so as more than just the Sheriff but most importantly as a friend in which people can look up to and depend on,” he said.

Looking ahead, Nichols pledged to continue increasing training opportunities for deputies and ensuring the sheriff’s office remains prepared for any situation.

“Our work is not finished — as a matter of fact, it is really just beginning,” Nichols said. “I hope that you will allow us to continue this work together and re-elect me as your Drew County Sheriff.”
