Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl released an update this week outlining several major incidents, public safety concerns, and court proceedings across the county.
The week began with law enforcement investigating the deaths of two people at a residence in Fordyce. Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) agents were called in, with assistance from the Fordyce Police Department and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Knoedl said the investigation is ongoing but that no foul play is suspected at this time.
He also reassured the public after receiving calls about possible lockdowns at Fordyce schools and the Dallas County Medical Center. “If any danger exists, we will be notifying all residents immediately,” Knoedl said. The sheriff’s office is also warning residents about a phone scam in which callers claim to be with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and say a loved one has been arrested. Victims are then told to pay bond through apps like CashApp. Sheriff Knoedl said at least three people in the county have fallen victim in recent weeks.
“This is a scam,” he emphasized. “We will never call and ask for a bond to be paid digitally. We only accept bond payments in person, and we don’t call anyone asking for it. If you receive such a call, do not pay it. Call the Sheriff’s Department directly and we can provide the correct information.”
Residents are reminded that parking is prohibited in the endzone area at the local football field. Vehicles parked there are subject to towing.
