A special judge assigned to hear a lawsuit challenging the construction of a solar farm and data processing center in Grant County has told attorneys for the county they have more time to answer questions asked by the man challenging the construction.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Brody Channell had asked 104 separate questions of county officials, including County Judge Randy Pruitt, County/Circuit Clerk Gerald Harrison and all the members of the Quorum Court.
Retired Circuit Judge Grisham Phillips has set a hearing on the issue for Sept. 9, but he has extended the deadline for attorneys representing the county from 30 days to 45 days.
Those same attorneys have filed several motions, including one to dismiss the case and one for summary judgment.
The newspaper reported that the case involves a proposal to build a 500MV data center and 400 MW solar farm just outside Sheridan.
Channell contends the Quorum Court broke the FOIA law when they had to table a recommendation supporting the project. County attorneys said the JP’s did nothing wrong.
