Authorities say a social media post circulating about suspicious activity at the Big Red Travel Plaza in White Hall has been investigated and ruled unfounded.
The post, which appeared on Facebook, alleged that a person had been hiding in the ceiling of the women’s restroom and looking down at a customer.
After checking into the claims, officials determined that the ceiling at the Travel Plaza is not structurally capable of supporting a person. Investigators also found no holes or signs of tampering in the restroom ceiling.
Police did respond to the scene following the initial report, but after their review, they confirmed that the allegations were unsubstantiated.
White Hall Police Chief Mickey Buffkin spoke with Deltaplex News about the incident.
Authorities are urging the public to be cautious when sharing unverified information online, as false claims can cause unnecessary concern in the community.
