Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Aug. 19 that left a man injured by flying glass after bullets struck his vehicle.
According to the Pine Bluff Police Department Detective’s Office, officers responded to Sunset Village at 2611 W. 34th Ave. around 3:35 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from what was initially believed to be a gunshot wound to his left jaw. Medical personnel later determined that glass fragments had penetrated his cheek after a bullet traveled through his car’s windshield. The victim was treated at a local hospital and later released.
Investigators located the victims vehicle in the dead end of Grarich Cove with the driver’s door open and engine running. The car also had a bullet hole in the driver’s side headlight.
The victim told police the incident began shortly after purchasing cigars from Spokes and Munchies at 2810 W. 28th Ave. He then drove through several streets toward W. 36th Avenue, where he reported hearing multiple gunshots and believed his vehicle was struck. Jackson fled to Sunset Village to seek help.
He told investigators he did not see the shooter and has no idea who would want to harm him.
No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
