A 36-year-old man is in custody after allegedly assaulting his mother at a residence on State Highway 1 in the Pea Ridge community.
According to the Desha County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Austin Freeman responded to the home on August 6, 2025, and found the victim bleeding from her head. Investigators determined that the suspect, identified as Kirby Barnett, had physically assaulted her.
Barnett was arrested at the scene and transported to the McGehee City Jail, where he was charged with second-degree domestic battery.
He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
