Monday was the first day of school for the Watson Chapel School District and as students returned to class, Superintendent Dr. Keith McGee had some good news about enrollment.

McGee appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show where host Greg Horne noted that school enrollment and population in Pine Bluff have both been “going down, down, down.”

Horne said that with the increased enrollment, the district will now have to go and find more teachers.

McGee went on to say that he attributed the increase not only to reshaping the culture of the district but to a team effort, starting with the school board being so supportive.

He said there have been so many students sign up for football that the district has run out of helmets.
