The Sheridan City Council will not move forward on a grant application to create a Main Street Plaza in order to support a group applying for the same grant.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the grant County Unified Community Resource Council (GGUCRC) applied for the same grant and wants to use the funds to purchase the property currently rented by Kathy’s Closet & Food Pantry and for renovations.
The newspaper reported that the GGUCRU was founded in 1987 and includes five non-profit organizations, the Family Resource Council, the Literacy Council, Keeping the Faith Women’s Shelter and Kathy’s Closet and Food Pantry.
By a vote of 3-2, with one council member absent, the council approved withdrawing the city’s application.
