The Pine Bluff Police Department will formally introduce 12 newly hired officers and four recruits nearing the end of their training during the Pine Bluff City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4.
This group represents the department’s largest recruitment class in several years and signals a significant step forward in bolstering police staffing levels amid ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
“Anytime we can get more officers on the streets, it’s a good thing,” said PBPD Public Information Specialist John Worthen. “The department has been working hard on recruiting, and it’s paying off.”
Among the four recruits still completing training is Avery Plummer, who expressed his deep personal connection to the job.
“I just want to make the city a better place and make my family proud,” Plummer said.
The new additions arrive at a critical time for the department. As of early July, only 53 officers were serving in the Uniform Patrol Division.
The public is encouraged to attend the upcoming City Council meeting to meet the new officers and show support for the department’s latest class.
