Pine Bluff detectives have confirmed that 39-year-old Lamarcus Benton, the second suspect wanted in connection with the July 18, 2025, homicide on South Spruce Street, has turned himself in to authorities.
Benton, the brother of Michael King Jr., was wanted on a charge of Capital Murder following the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Markee Avery. Avery was found outside a residence at 1212 South Spruce Street with multiple apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials, Benton surrendered peacefully on Wednesday with his attorney present. He is currently being held at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center on the Capital Murder charge.
Detectives say the investigation into Avery’s death remains active, with law enforcement continuing to gather evidence and information about the events that led to the fatal shooting.
The Pine Bluff Police Department extended its gratitude to the public for their support throughout the investigation.
