Following the tragic accidents that occurred overnight on Interstate 30, ARDOT director Jared Wiley has issued a statement.

“The ARDOT family is saddened to learn about the multiple crash related fatalies, including the loss of a highway contractor who was killed in the line of duty. The contractor was working in a mobile work zone near Fulton when he was struck and killed. Two other accidents occurred in the traffic queues that developed after the initial crash. Highway workers perform day in and day out along the Arkansas Highway system for the betterment of the state. It is our duty to protect them and the traveling public. These losses were the result of a preventable tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with these individuals loved ones and co-workers”

The worker was hit by a 2004 Buick Century and the driver fled the scene on foot.  He is currently wanted by police.
