A single-vehicle crash in Chicot County claimed the life of a Dermott man in the early hours of Friday, July 18.
According to the Arkansas State Police, the accident occurred at approximately 12:27 a.m. on State Highway 208 near Dermott. The driver, identified as 26-year-old James J. Dotson III of Dermott, was pronounced dead following the crash.
Authorities say Dotson was driving a 2015 Kia southbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then collided with a tree. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.
The weather was clear and the road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Dotson was transported to McGehee Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by Arkansas State Police.
