Reported crime in Pine Bluff is down in a number of areas, compared to crime a year ago. One of those categories is homicides. According to the Police Department, there have been four homicides so far this year, and there have been arrests made in all of those incidents.
John Worthen, who is the department’s Public Information Specialist talked about that decline when he was a guest on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.
Morning Show host Greg Horne mentioned that former Mayor Shirley Washington was very involved with the GVI program and asked Worthen how much involvement the police department has with it?
Horne said there have been some people who have doubted department reports of crime being down and are attributing those numbers to reports that officers are simply not taking all the reports of incidents. He asked Worthen what he had to say about that.
