UPDATE:
An accident report from the Arkansas State Police on a fatal accident involving a Pine Bluff man has been corrected regarding the type of vehicle the man was driving.
The original report said Aaron James Mitchell was driving a 2021 Chevrolet, but the corrected report shows that Mitchell was driving a 1998 Jeep at the time of the accident.
A Pine Bluff man was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning on Interstate 530 in Jefferson County.
According to a report from Arkansas State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. on July 12, 2025, at the 23-mile marker on I-530 northbound near Redfield.
The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Aaron James Mitchell of Pine Bluff. Mitchell, who was driving a 2021 Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators say Mitchell’s vehicle collided with a 1998 Jeep traveling in the same direction. Following the impact, Mitchell’s vehicle veered off the roadway and struck several trees.
Weather conditions at the time were clear, and road conditions were dry.
To date 261 people have died on Arkansas highways in 2025.
