Crime in Pine Bluff is experiencing a significant decline, as reported by the Pine Bluff Police Department. Police Chief Shirley Warrior presented data to the City Council’s Public Safety Committee showing a 10% reduction in overall reported crimes for June compared to the same month last year, and a striking 58% year-to-date decrease in total crimes.

In June 2025, 268 crimes were reported, down from 297 in June 2024. Year-to-date figures show 1,407 crimes, compared to over 3,300 during the same period last year.

John Worthen, the Public Information Specialist for the department, expressed optimism about these results but emphasized the ongoing effort needed to continue enhancing public safety.

“Department officials are pleased with the downward trend in crime statistics, but we all know there is more work that
must be done,” said Worthen. “We want the community to know we are out there to make this city a better place. That’s the ultimate goal for everyone in this community.”

Key crime categories showed notable improvements, with homicides down by 66% year-over-year, reported rapes reduced by 50%, and commercial burglaries decreasing by over 63%. However, aggravated assaults rose by more than 37%, and residential burglaries increased by over 31%.

The department received 61 calls about possible gunfire in June, with Zone 1 recording the highest number of complaints. In response, police initiated Operation Stop the Bleed, focusing on patrol saturations in high-call areas, continuing with ten more rounds planned through the end of the year.

June saw 2,453 calls for service, 249 traffic stops, and 2,702 total incidents. Year-to-date, the department responded to 17,019 calls. The detective division investigated 66 new cases in June, leading to 28 arrests.

The vice and narcotics unit seized 2,211.2 grams of marijuana, 16.1 grams of methamphetamine, three firearms, and $12,275.33 in cash, with drugs valued at $29,250. The unit made 13 arrests related to narcotics activity.
