Students in the Woodlawn School District will receive a free breakfast and lunch when they return to school this fall.
According to the Cleveland County Herald newspaper, the school has been accepted into the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.
That means students will receive a free breakfast and lunch with no application required. However, students in the district who have an existing balance must pay that balance first.
The CEP program is a federal meal service option for schools and school districts in high poverty areas to provide free meals regardless of household income.
Woodlawn Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock said the funding for the program last four years before the district has to reapply.
