A $2,500 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff woman accused of injuring her husband during an altercation Friday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Shellyatt Beard, 35, with second-degree domestic battery.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Hunter said Boykin was working at the Emergency Room at Jefferson Regional Hospital at about 2 a.m. when the victim came in bleeding badly from his left hand and said the injury was the result of a domestic incident. He also initially said he did not want to talk about the incident.

Boykin reported that she eventually said she might have pushed a vase at her husband and he required several stitches to stop the bleeding.

Beard was ordered to have no contact with her husband and told to come back to court Aug. 6.
