A $25,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole who allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a machete during an argument.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Thomas Cochran, 48, with terroristic threatening and aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Ryan Edwards, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said police were sent to a reported domestic disturbance on Wood Avenue.

A witness told police they had seen the argument and while they could not hear what was being said saw Cochran holding the machete.

Detective Edwards also questioned Cochran.

Spradlin said there is also a warrant for Cochran alleging he violated conditions of his parole.

Cochran was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Aug. 6.
