A proposal to create a data center and solar farm to provide energy for the center was discussed by the Grant County Quorum Court at its recent meeting.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Clark Bixler, director of development for Clear Cloud Energy told the JP’s that the company is in the initial stages of the project, which would cost between $5 and $6 billion to build and would create some $300 million in tax revenue over the life of the project.
The newspaper reported that the plan is for the company to purchase 3,920 acres north of Highway 167 between the Highway 35 junction and the Highway 167 B intersection.
He said the data center would provide computing power to potential users that require a high level of computing power and infrastructure.
Bixler is asking the Quorum Court to approve two resolutions to allow the company to begin to work on details of the project.
The issue will be discussed further during the next meeting of the Quorum Court in July.
