A Fordyce man was arrested in Rison on Monday, June 16, on multiple felony drug trafficking charges following a joint operation involving several law enforcement agencies, according to the Cleveland County Herald.
Bobby Macon, 47, of Fordyce, was taken into custody at a residence on Elrod Street by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. The arrest was supported by an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which also searched the premises during the operation.
According to reports, several unmarked law enforcement vehicles were at the scene during the arrest. Neither the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department nor the Arkansas State Police participated in the arrest or the search, although they were aware of the operation.
Cleveland County Chief Deputy Gary Young confirmed that while the department was not directly involved, they had been briefed. He said he did not know whether Macon would face any charges in Cleveland County, noting that if so, they would likely be federal in nature.
In a statement to the Herald, the FBI explained that the arrest was part of a broader, court-authorized operation conducted in Rison that day, emphasizing that the case remains part of an ongoing federal investigation. “Since this is an ongoing federal investigation, we are not able to provide any additional details,” the FBI told the Herald.
Macon was arrested at approximately 9:32 a.m. and later booked into the Dallas County Jail in Fordyce. The jail log officially lists his residence as Fordyce, though he was arrested in Rison.
