UAPB’s Dr. Rebecca Lochmann Awarded Prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to Advance Aquatic Animal Nutrition Research in Ghana

Dr. Rebecca Lochmann, professor of aquaculture and fisheries at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), has received a prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for fall 2025. She will teach and conduct research in aquatic animal nutrition at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana.

Working within KNUST’s Department of Fisheries and Watershed Management, Dr. Lochmann will apply her expertise in aquaculture feeds and nutrition to support the region’s growing aquaculture industry. The collaboration also aims to strengthen international partnerships between UAPB and institutions in Ghana.

“I’m honored to receive this award,” Lochmann said, thanking UAPB’s Dr. Pamela Moore and alumni Dr. Regina Edziyie and Dr. Emmanuel Frimpong for their support.

Dr. Moore, UAPB’s associate dean for global engagement, emphasized the broader impact of the Fulbright: “This opportunity enhances research, education, and outreach not only in Ghana, but here at UAPB. It also lays the groundwork for student exchanges and experiential learning.”

Dr. Lochmann has served UAPB since 1993 as a professor, department chair, and researcher. She joins a global network of over 400,000 Fulbright participants contributing to cross-cultural exchange and academic advancement since the program’s inception in 1946.
