Tink Hence has continued to open eyes as decisions will soon be made as to where he will pitch next.
Saturday, the former Watson Chapel pitcher struck out six in just 2 and 2/3rd innings and was pulled at his pitch count of 50. He has now pitched seven innings in rehab appearances, not giving up an earned run and striking out 9.
He has pitched at Palm Beach and with the Cardinals rookie league team and could see himself in Springfield (AA) in the next couple of weeks. Springfield will be in Little Rock for a series starting on August 19th and could pitch in front of a great bunch of family and friends during that series.
The major league trade deadline is July 31st and the Cardinals could be ready to deal at least one of their starting pitchers, which could open spots for Hence and top pitching prospect Quin Matthews. Hence could pitch again this Friday when Springfield hosts the Tulsa Drillers.
