During a press conference this morning, a group of Wal-Mart heirs announced they are creating a new tech based University in Bentonville.
The University will be built at the site of the former Walmart Home Office on 8th Street. Although a name for the university has not been announced, it is expected to be up and running within the next two years.
At today’s press conference, Tom and Steuart Walton, grandsons of the company’s founder, Sam Walton, said they hope to host about 500 students in the first undergraduate class and could grow to as many as 1,500 in the coming years. It will offer a modern, flexible and accessible model that is both STEM-focused and business infused. More details about the timeline and entrance requirements are set to be released in the coming weeks.
