At its most recent meeting, the Grant County Quorum Court received information on additional revenue the county has received with the addition of scales at the landfill.
According to the Sheridan Headlight, Grant County Judge Randy Pruitt reported that by charging for weight instead of volume, an additional $30,000 in the first few months since the scales were added.
He also responded to questions of why the county does not offer trash pickup or local dump stations and explained that the county does not have a tax to pay for it. He went on to say that the county does not allocate any tax money to solid waste operations.
