A Benton man was killed Thursday when he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Interstate 30 in Saline County.
According to a preliminary report, Christopher S. McCallister, 47, entered the roadway near mile marker 118 and was hit by a Peterbuilt tractor-trailer that was westbound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported at 2 a.m. and the death was the 281st so far this year on the state’s highways.
