SeArk College broke ground Thursday at the location of the former Davis East Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in preparation for the construction of new student housing once the current building is torn down.

SeArk College President Dr. Steven Bloomberg spoke with Deltaplex News about the groundbreaking and plans for the new student housing, which include targeting housing insecurity for underprivileged students.

The P3 Group will be in charge of construction of the project, but will also fund four full scholarships for resident assistants living in the new student housing, which will provide over $7 million in endowment money for the college in 20 years.

Bloomberg also shared that part of the ongoing capital campaign will go towards new turf fields for the baseball and softball program with hopes of having that done over the next two to three years.

Bloomberg also said that big news is expected within the next 24 hours as plans are being made to announce the inaugural baseball and softball head coaches for the SeArk Sharks program.
