A vehicle stolen out of Pine Bluff was discovered submerged in the Saline River near the Jim Young Bridge on Highway 63 north of Warren on Sunday, according to a press release from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Bradley County Chief Deputy Wayne Wesson a 2021 GMC Acadia belonging to a Pine Bluff man was located in the Saline River partially submerged in the water. The vehicle was removed from the river at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Bradley County Deputy Jose Ramirez then made contact with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in attempt to contact the owner of the vehicle when he was notified by Jefferson County Deputies that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

An inspection of the vehicle showed that a stick approximately four-foot-long had been wedge between the driver seat and gas pedal, indicating the vehicle was intentionally driven into the river.

Additional evidence was taken from the vehicle and has been submitted to the State Crime Lab in efforts to assist the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in identifying a possible suspect.
