A Mississippi man was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Jefferson County Saturday morning.
According to a preliminary report from the State Police, Dawson Lawler, 22, of Lumberton, Miss., was southbound on Arkansas Highway 88 north of Rob Roy Road when the 2021 Ford he was driving crossed the center line and hit a 2016 Ford driven by Ruby Osorio, 38, of Altheimer head-on.
The force of the impact caused the vehicle driven by Lawler to leave the roadway to the west and overturn on its passenger side, coming to rest in an open field.
Lawler was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Osorio and a minor passenger in her vehicle were injured and taken to Jefferson Regional for treatment of their injuries.
The accident was reported at 8:47 a.m. and according to the report, it was foggy and the roadway was wet
The death was the 604th of 2022 on the state’s highways.
