A special election for a 5-mil tax increase held in Cleveland County failed by 27 votes according to unofficial results release Tuesday night.
562 votes against the measure came in while 535 votes in favor came in.
The increase requested by the Cleveland County School District would have funded construction for a new gymnasium with band a choir rooms, renovate the interior of the Rison Elementary School, build a technology suite to teach computer science and technology courses, and expand the school cafeteria.
