A $15,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of stealing construction equipment from a work site Friday.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Paul Jackson, 55, with theft of property.
Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Sgt. Michael Roberts, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said police were sent to the construction site at 700 S. Main St., at 7:28 a.m. in response to a reported theft.
When questioned, Jackson said had been riding a bicycle in the area and something happened to it. He said he saw the excavator which had the keys in it and drove it to the house on Pennsylvania St.
King said Jackson had prior convictions for theft of property, commercial burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was told to come back to court July 27.
