A Pine Bluff man currently on parole was arrested Wednesday after an investigation into the reported theft of a utility trailer from a funeral home.

Shane Lampkin, 44, was taken into custody after he was identified as a suspect in the theft, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said during a court hearing Friday.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Investigator Johnny Williams, King said deputies were sent to Brown Funeral Home on June 10 after they were contacted by the owner, Marshall Kelly.

King said Sheriff’s Sgt. Courtney Kelly said Lampkin riding in a vehicle on Dollarway Road and conducted a traffic stop because the vehicle had a broken taillight. The driver was issued a citation and Lampkin was taken into custody,

When he was interviewed, he admitted that he and another person had ridden a 4-wheeler to the funeral home property and taken the trailer.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $20,000 bond for Lampkin after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft of property. He will also be held without bond pending a hearing to determine if he should be sent back to prison to complete his sentence.

Lampkin was told to come back to court July 14.
