Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington on Tuesday discussed the races for four positions on the Pine Bluff City Council when she appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show.
Current Council Member Ivan Whitfield is seeking a second term in Ward 3 and is opposed by Quranner Cotledge ad Lanette Frazier.
Washington said she did not know Cotledge but she knew Frazier very well because Frazier worked for her and had mentioned that frequently.
In Ward 1, five candidates are seeking to replace current council member Joni Alexander and Washington said she is currently studying the candidates because she doesn’t know all of them. She went on to say that she has relatives who live in Ward 1 and they have asked her who they should vote for.
She said she had not made a final decision but would have that decision made by May 9, the day early voting begins. Of the five candidates in the race, Washington said she is looking at LaTisha Brunson, Danny Walker, and John Proctor.
Garland Trice and David Knott are the other two candidates in that race.
